Another Dr. appointment

Today we had another doctor's appointment. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was 163, which hopefully means a girl. Girl's heartbeats are faster than boy's. We'll see in 8 more weeks if that's true or not.

Week 11

My weeks begin on Wednesday so week 11 is almost over, but I thought I'd update since I haven't done it for a while. As of today, I have 200 more days to be pregnant (that's assuming I have the baby on August 10). Sure seems like a long time!
Josh is taking me shopping for some maternity clothes today or tomorrow. Sometime this weekend I'll post a new belly picture. I'm not too big, but my jeans make me tummy hurt if I bend over. So I'm getting new ones! Very exciting.
By week 11, my baby's organ systems are now all fully functioning and she has a skeleton, nerves and blood circulation. My baby has tiny feet that are fully formed and shaped and could stand on an adult's fingernail. That's so little. Please just hold your finger out and imagine a little baby that fits right on there!!
My baby is actually growing so quickly now that she will start out this week being approximately 21 - 25 mm or 0.85 - 1.0 inches and by the end of the week will have doubled that and be approximately 44 - 51 mm or 1.75 - 2.0 inches and weight approximately 7 grams. My baby was 20 mm three weeks ago, so I think that she's probably on the larger end of that.
My baby will also begin to get baby teeth, fingernails, toenails and hair follicles this week.

The only other exciting thing happening now it that my morning sickness is gone. I haven't even felt like I was gonna throw up for a whole week. Now all I do is eat and sleep and work. I come home and eat and then sleep until work. I eat the whole time I'm there. Pretzels, candy, apples, anything. I'm always walking around with something in my mouth. I may not be big now, but I'm going after my official title as the fattest Mee-Maw.

Another prediction!

From http://sheknows.com/files/zaritska/youranswer.htm

Madame Zaritska's reading:
Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience.
What she senses for you: The day you deliver, outside will be cloudy. Your baby will arrive at night.
After a labor lasting approximately 3 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and will be 20-1/2 inches long. This child will have green eyes and be completely bald.

That's what I like to hear, 3 hours!! These things could all be true. My dad has green eyes and I was bald. Josh and I both weighed a little over 7 pounds and it's supposed to be an average of the parents' birth weights(I read that somewhere). 3 hours, wow!

My belly at 9 weeks

My Belly

Just thought I'd show you what I look like now. You can't really tell I'm pregnant, but my pants are a little more snug than they used to be. I think that I've gained about 2 pounds, but I feel like it's been a lot more than 2. When I'm big and fat, you'll all be able to use this picture to make me feel bad about myself. It'll be a reminder of the good ole days before I turned into a whale!

Old Wives' Tales

You'll all be happy to know that Amazing pregnancy.com says it's a girl. There's a quiz that you take with all of the old wives' tales. According to it I have a 65% chance of having a girl. I still think it's a boy, but we'll see before long.

I've also decided that to help me remember to update this, I'm going to tell you what "The Pregnancy Journal" says is happening to the baby every couple of days. (Thanks, Susan!)

Today the baby's tongue is beginning to develop. It also has ears that are set low on it's head, but they will start to move to normal position soon. It also has webbed fingers and thumbs. It's so crazy that all of this stuff is happening inside me while I just do what I normally do. It makes me want to just sit down and concentrate on helping the baby grow. Isn't that silly?

Our first picture of our little baby!

We got to see the baby!

Well, today we had our first ultrasound. We got to see the baby's heartbeat. I posted the picture but you can't really see much. Our baby is just kind of a little blob near the top. There is a line above it to measure if that helps you see it better. The baby is 20.1 mm long. Just a little pebble!
I've been feeling fine. Just tired and a little sore on top. No sickness, just a bit of queasiness. Josh says that I'm meaner now too, but you can't trust him to tell the truth!
Our next doctor's appointment is January 31st. We should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat then. That's the day before Josh's birthday, so he should have a great present.
